Yes the situation can be rectified, and no you don't necessarily need to delay or pullout of a purchase. Of course the severity of the dampness and the solutions required are individual to the home you wish to purchase. It’s a good idea to talk to the consultant and see if it is minor, typical or major for a building of its type and age.
